Description
Here’s a very interesting specimen from Morocco: a flake of specular hematite with a mirror-like metallic lustre and a thickness barely exceeding 1 mm! Its crystal structure and growth features are remarkable, with small surface pits adding beautiful texture and character. A delicate tuft of calcite sits atop the hematite, providing a pleasing contrast. When these hematites were first discovered, the locality was simply listed as “Jebel Ouichane”. However, it is now known that these fine specimens actually come from a small quarry near Nador.
