A specimen of spinel from Madagascar. This piece displays a beautiful octahedral form with several well-developed crystal faces. Portions of the host rock remain attached to the crystal, adding contrast and providing a natural context for its formation. Its deep black color beautifully accentuates the sharp geometry and elegant crystallography of the specimen.
