Description
A specimen of malachite and azurite from the Lavrio mining district in Greece. The malachite occurs as two spherical aggregates, beneath which traces of azurite remain visible. This suggests that the two carbonate minerals formed sequentially, with the azurite crystallizing first and later being overgrown by malachite. A third mineral species is also present, occurring as numerous minute spheres scattered across the specimen.
