Description
A specimen of sanidine from the mountain of Kakourou in Almopia, Greece. This is an excellent, textbook example of a Carlsbad-twinned sanidine with perfect terminations. Notice the black spots on the faces which are tiny biotite flakes. Interestingly, although one might assume the piece would be opaque, placing it against a strong backlight reveals otherwise. Field-collected in June 2018.
