Scarcely seen but always wanted by the informed and experienced collector, a portion of the matrix is thankfully preserved and still attached to the kunzite, creating a pleasing balance and adding further geological context and provenance. The kunzite’s soft pink contrasts beautifully with the white matrix. As is often seen with Afghan material, geologically-induced, natural etching has created fascinating, highly sculptural shapes at both the top and bottom of the crystal, making this piece especially eye-catching!
