Description
A specimen of ruby corundum from the occurrence near the village of Paranesti, Greece. Although most rubies from this locality occur as massive aggregates without well-defined crystal forms, this specimen appears to be an exception, with a prominent hexagonal tabular ruby crystal readily visible. The crystal remains attached to its green pargasitic matrix and is partially covered by it, while some smaller, massive ruby crystals can be seen near the bottom of the specimen. Overall, this is an intriguing and somewhat uncommon example of Greek ruby, particularly notable for the distinct crystal form preserved within the matrix. Field-collected in April 2023.
