Description
Although Greek rubies may not make headlines with record-breaking prices like their Burmese counterparts, they are still highly prized by seasoned locality collectors. The ruby corundums occurring near the village of Paranesti are hosted within green pargasite schist and, according to studies, display anomalously high Si concentrations interpreted as the result of a margarite overprint on corundum. A fine representative example of Greek ruby corundum, showing a deep red color contrasted beautifully by small patches of green pargasite. Found on 22 April 2023.
