A specimen of calcite from the Kalahari Manganese Field in South Africa. This piece features two gemmy, twinned calcite crystals displaying exceptional water-clear transparency and superb lustre. A particularly intriguing feature is the way the matrix is partially enclosed within the largest calcite, as one half is encapsulated by the crystal, while the other projects out of it!
