Description
A beautiful specimen of deep green, transparent dioptase crystals from the Tantara mine, DR Congo. Associated with the dioptase is a second green mineral, occurring as a jumble of crystals alongside and overgrowing the dioptase, with malachite being the most likely initial assumption. However, closer inspection under magnification reveals a prismatic habit, vitreous lustre, and slight transparency, suggesting that it may represent a different mineral species.
