Description
Hematite — a mineral often mistaken for being man-made by those unfamiliar with it, especially in its specularite variety such as this example. With its mirror-like metallic lustre and grey-steel color, this is an impressive specimen featuring a delicate, platy crystal habit. Small white tufts of calcite are attached, providing striking contrast. This specimen originates from a quarry near Nador, Morocco, and not from Jebel Ouichane as was erroneously reported when this material first appeared on the market.
