Description
Here’s a wonderful specimen featuring dark, royal-blue azurite microcrystals beautifully encrusting a small dolomite matrix fragment. It comes from the Schmitt dolomite quarry near Altenmittlau—a locality renowned for producing some of the finest German azurite specimens. The quarry has been abandoned since 1999 and later backfilled, making new finds from this site highly unlikely. As a result, pieces like this now surface only through older collections.
