Description
A specimen of calcite from the Esperanza mine in the Lavrio mining district, Greece. The piece features exceptional brown calcite crystals with a brilliant, sparkling lustre and beautifully developed, intricate forms. Their pronounced, spiky habit gives the crystals a distinctive cactus-like appearance, creating a particularly unusual and eye-catching aesthetic. The specimen originates from a 2025 find and highlights Lavrion’s remarkable potential to produce exceptional calcite crystals, beyond the secondary ore minerals for which the district is primarily known.
