Description
A specimen of azurite and malachite from the Christiana mine, in Lavrio mining district, Greece. The piece showcases the striking blue and green colors of these classic secondary copper minerals, with crystals densely covering a contrasting brown limonitic matrix. Under magnification, wonderfully terminated, lustrous crystals reveal intricate growth structures and fascinating details that make this specimen particularly rewarding to examine. One could quite easily spend hours admiring its microcrystals and delicate crystal forms through the ‘scope. At 14 cm in length, the specimen is also an impressive cabinet piece and an admirable addition to any mineral collection.
