Description
A specimen of andradite and hedenbergite from the island of Serifos in Greece. Several attractive orangish-brown dodecahedral andradite crystals are perched atop a matrix of dark green, elongated hedenbergite crystals, with the largest andradite measuring nearly 9 mm. One of the most distinctive features of the specimen is the subtle variation in coloration within the andradite crystals, with the central portions displaying a noticeably different hue from the outer rims. This contrast is particularly evident in the largest crystal. The andradites also exhibit a good degree of translucency, further enhancing their visual appeal. With its contrasting colors, well-developed crystals, and attractive three-dimensional arrangement, this is a highly aesthetic and eye-catching specimen from Serifos.
