Description
A specimen of antigorite from Edessa, Greece. Although antigorite, a member of the serpentine group, is often rather inconspicuous and easily overlooked by collectors, it can occasionally produce exceptionally appealing material. This large specimen is a fine example, showing a rich deep-green color, a beautiful sheen, and pleasing translucency that becomes especially apparent when illuminated from behind. Field-collected in February 2022.
