Description

An antigorite specimen from Edessa, Greece. Antigorite is a common serpentine-group mineral, typically found in ophiolite complexes, and rarely forms specimens that are especially appealing to mineral collectors. This piece, however, is a remarkable exception. It displays a vibrant green color, while portions of the massive material transition from translucent to nearly transparent—an unusual characteristic for the species. A common rock-forming mineral presented in an uncommon and highly attractive form. Field-collected in February 2022.
