Description
An antigorite specimen from Edessa, Greece. Although antigorite is a widespread member of the serpentine group and a common constituent of ophiolite complexes, it seldom occurs in a form that attracts the attention of mineral collectors. However, here’s an exception! This specimen stands apart with its vivid green coloration and areas of the massive material that range from translucent to almost transparent. An ordinary rock-forming mineral displayed in a distinctly uncommon and aesthetically pleasing habit. Field-collected in February 2022.
